News from Mr. Ouellette . . .

(March 25, 2008)

Good Morning,

You should be receiving an itinerary from your students for the spring trip today or tomorrow. They will be available after school today. Please ask your student to make sure they have it and you are aware of what they are doing. They should keep a copy of the itinerary and rules with them at all times while on the trip.

The last page has some important addresses and phone numbers for you to keep in the case of an emergency while your students are gone.

Important:

All medications should be kept and dispensed by our nurses that are going on the trip. It is important that the students do not keep medications with them in their rooms. The nurses will be available at the band hall on Tuesday April 1 from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Please bring the correct amount of medication for your student in a zip lock bag. Make sure that the bag is clearly marked with the students name and specific instructions on when and how to dispense the medication.

It is important that you make personal contact with the nurses on April 1 from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Prescription medication needs to be in the original prescription container with the label stating what it is and the instructions for dispensing.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

I know everyone has been waiting for information on this year’s spring band trip. I have been working to get all of the appropriate pricing in place before sending the information out to you. I am giving you a rough itinerary and payment schedule at this time. Please be aware that some minor changes in the itinerary may occur before we actually leave for our trip.

The purpose of the trip this year is a little different. First I am trying to make sure that it is a fun and educational trip for all involved. Instead of entering a festival, we are going to bring in some outstanding musicians to spend time with and clinic our students as they prepare for UIL competition. Our clinicians are Dennis Eichler from Lee College and Derle Long from University of Louisiana, Monroe. We will then be doing a public performance in one of the finest auditoriums in the state at Corpus Christi A&M to try and get some great recordings for your enjoyment and to submit for state honor band competition.

When: April 4-7
Where: Corpus Christi
Mustang Island  - Port Royale Condo
How Much? $300.00
Payment Schedule:  $100.00 due on Nov. 19, 2007
$100.00 due on Jan. 22, 2008
$50.00 due on March 3, 2008

All payments are non- refundable after they are made as we are using these deposits to make scheduled payments.

Here is a very rough itinerary:

April 4, 2008: Leave after school
April 5, 2008: Morning free
Afternoon excursion to one of the following:
Lexington
State Aquarium
Columbus ships and Museum
Botanical gardens
Fun tracker games and go carts
Evening will be a catered meal
April 6, 2008: Morning Free
Afternoon clinics by band
Evening concert for all
April 7, 2008: Leave by 11:00 a.m. to head home

Please try and allow your student to attend this trip as it is vitally important to have all of the parts covered for clinics and performances as we get ready for UIL competition. I think we can get a lot done in their preparation and still allow time for everyone to have a relaxing and enjoyable trip.
